Karl Lagerfeld is a fan of Carla Bruni

It doesn’t come as a surprise to us that Karl Lagerfeld, the german fashion designer who chose to live in France favors Carla Bruni over the other first ladies.

In an interview he gave to Vanity Fair he said about Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife: “She’s imaginative, clever, educated. She knows how to behave. She speaks many languages. It must be an embarrassment for the wives of other heads of state to see this beautiful creature who can wear anything and speak like that.”

Looking out of our office window and seeing the roof of the Reichstag in the distance where german chancellor Merkel often holds her speeches i think to myself that at least one spouse won’t be embarassed by her looks - as long as Carla doesn’t look too long into the eyes of our chancellor’s husband Joachim Sauer.

Makes me wonder about how to call a husband of a female head of state? Can’t be first lady for sure. Maybe first gentleman, first man, first husband...? As far as i have read, Margaret Thatcher’s husband was always called “the man behind Margaret Thatcher”. But that was some days ago and in the end…

Fuckparade 2008 - Saturday August 9 2pm

Next saturday - August 9 - Fuckparade 2008 will happen again in Berlin.

The parade which was started as an alternative parade to Loveparade meanwhile survived Berlin Loveparade and will see it’s next edition in a week.

The goal of the organizers is to be a platform for alternative lifestyles. For the freedom of speech, music and art - for the right of every human to choose freely where you live and how you live your live.

Currently investors are aiming at building large office buildings along the river Spree. This would mean that many youth projects would have to move or finally close down and that the general public doesn’t have any more free access to the banks of the river.

To stop those companies is this year’s main topic of Fuckparade 2008. Join in next saturday and show your protest and claim your right to live freely in a free city.

NetShare for the iPhone available again

Dr. Macenstein just announced that NetShare is back online in Apple’s application store.

NetShare by Nullriver allows Mac users to connect to their iPhone easily and use it’s 3G and EDGE connection which - in Germany for example - comes as a flat rate, which means: unlimited surfing.

Still don’t own an iPhone myself yet, but i will in the near future and for sure am going to use this feature heavily as the mobile networks in Germany are usually very good and available with very few exceptions everywhere in our country.

In the past 1&1 was my internet provider and i used to own a flatrate until - due to heave usage by internet addicted like me - 1&1 chose to cancel all those contracts which made me switch to another more generous company.

If NetShare gets adopted by the heavy user scene to a huge amount chances are that the mobile phone providers around the globe will do the same…

Follow this direct link to download the application immediately. At 9.99 $ quite a bargain!!!

Hommage to the supermodels by Vanity Fair

In their september issue Vanity Fair features the supermodels from yesterday who have never been more up to date than today.

The story “A League Of Their own” is about Stephanie Seymor, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford - the girls for whom somebody created the title supermodels.

Wish that i’ll manage to have a “derriere” like Naomi or Claudia when i’ll one day be a woman of their age…

Kid Rock covers Warren Zevon’s Werewolves Of London

If you turn on the radion in Germany atm chances are very good that Kid Rock’s current summer hit “All summer long” is playing.

If you’re a (very) long time music lover you will find similarities (which is a very weak description) between his song and Warren Zevon’s hit single Werewolves Of London released in 1978. Actually you don’t need to call the “Kid” a bad boy cause there are numerous covers of the Zevon song with the memorable “Ah-hoo”.

Find out more about the history of the original recording over at Wikipedia and check out the Kid Rock version over at YouTube.

Waterbattle 2008 in Berlin

Tomorrow at 12pm the citizens of the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg will meet on the Oberbaumbrücke to throw anything at each other that is wet and slimey.

The wasserschalcht (water battle) is a fun event about the rivalry between the two districts. In previous years, with a break in 2006 an 07 the people of Friedrichshain succeeded, but the Kreuzberg citizens are very positive that they can “make a change” this year cause the population of Friedrichshain has changed. The punks and unemployed have moved away, so Friedrichshain has run out of strong participants.

Let’s see who will succeed in the end.

The opening of the new american embassy at Pariser Platz in Berlin somehow marked the end of the Berlin protest movement.

Bicycles - this is the shit

Summer is always the best season to ride around with your bike.

Stay healthy and in perfect shape - just two reasons to take a ride. Roman is riding on a daily basis on his 26” triathlon machine while i’m thinking about getting me one more comfortable steel horse - maybe the one Agyness has?

No matter what - we agree with whowhatweardaily and call bikes the must-have accessory of the season! If you wanna find out more about why bikes are so en vogue at the moment, read their article by clicking on the name of their website.
